December 19th Christmas party. It went well. Julie A, Tiffany F, Julie S, Lori H, Lori F, Melissa H, Nina R, Wendy H,
and Valerie P attended. We enjoyed mostly pasta, and sandwiches, and of course the coversation revolved around our kids and
school.
Lori F and I were discussing if it was better to receive 20 spelling words a week and be challenged and possibly frustrated
or to receive 10 or 12 like Brooke H, and possibly have a better sense of accomplishment. I being the nerdy teacher said
the 20 because why not push the limit and get challenged, and learn more and read better. She was on the end of 10 to help
raise self confidence and help remove some of the stress already felt in school. Of course this is based on ind. child like
all other things are.
What else - Tiffany told us how well the Christmas Choir Program went and mentioned that for the first time in years she
was able to just sit and enjoy it.
Gift opening went well. We drew numbers and then chose the gift we wanted in order of our numbers. I was #1 and chose
the coffee gift card. All of the gifts were of course fabulous and everyone enjoyed their gift I hope. Other gifts included
a snowman serving dish with S&P shaker, a burgundy color soft throw and hand massager, Tastefully Simple products, a button
sewing kit and Partylite Xmas candle, a Xmas decorative stocking, a candle and crocus growing kit, and soft ivory gloves.
We left at around 9pm with the yawns that we would have laughed at years ago. I recall in college when 9pm would roll
around mentioning that the old folks were finally leaving.... now I know why. We have children that wake 3 times a night
and then get up at 6, demand attention all day long, jobs that stress us all day long, and the knowledge that we have to do
it all again, and the fact that we have to do more then just make rent drives us to head home to go to bed.

November 7th- Moms Night Out. Briged's Cross. Rachelle, Nina, Amy N., and myself were there. It was election night
and cold. We got into a discussion about pink eye. It is a topic for debate. I mentioned that after speaking to three very
different, yet reliable doctors they all agreed on the same thing. MOST pink eye infections are viral. These viral infections
are like colds and will typically run their course, usually in 3 days or so. Nina mentioned that the drops do help with the
symptoms though. Now my old family doctor told me if you come in they will automatically give you the drops because as a
mother or patient you do not want to come in and be told to go home and wait, come back if need be. You have already been
charged for the office call, so they will satisfy you with the Rx, after all it will not hurt your child, and it does help
with the symptoms. If the infection does not go away in a half week or so you may want to see the doctor. In the mean time
use a warm wash cloth to clean the area, use Visine to help with the symptoms and let it run your course.
Disclaimer- as always I brought this up as a topic of discussion not because I believe it is the only way to do something
or I think you must do it. It and other topics are a "...did you know, this is what I heard, something to think about
or look deeper into...." Kind of thing. I (with this topic) was trying to save people the office call and Rx which automatically
for me adds up to almost $100.

October 26th Meal Planning/Menus- We had a wonderful turn out. Two newer people came (Jenny H. and Linda N.) and were
an inspiration to me with their enthusiasm. Amy K. presented her typed up weekly meal plan and wowed us all. She even included
recipes. We loved it. We discussed menu ideas and easy supper ideas. It was a great turn out and meeting. Thank You!
________________________________________________________________________________________ October 10th Was an update meeting.
How is everything going? How is school going for our children etc
________________________________________________________________________________________ September 27th - Children's Self
Esteem. We discussed the fact that our child's self esteem is truly based on our self esteem (the mothers). Our daughters
inborn desire is to please us as mothers and if she watches us as mothers discuss how fat or ugly we are our daughters will
see this as proper behavior and copy it; just trying to please us. It actually becomes a competition in our daughters mind.
Who can think they are fatter, uglier, less successful etc. The main point is we as mothers need to step up to the plate and
present a positive self image and esteem so that our daughters will do the same. As for our sons we as mothers need to be
their cheerleader. We need to be amazed with every manly (as manly as a 6 yr old can muster) behavior and impressive thing
(in the boys mind) they do. We are to be in awe of our sons (or least make them think we are). Do not push your son in a direction
you want him to go but support and cheer the things he becomes interest in.
September 14th - Desserts to Share - turned into a discussion at Lueken's -not enough interest in making desserts. Most interesting
thing to happen at this meeting was Amy N.watching children left in car before meeting started and Melissa sharing story of
how children left in their car while parent was in the store - in parking lot rolled the car into the Hoover's parked car.
